Transferring Student’s Google Account to another Google Account

To transfer Google Docs from a school account to a personal account, the recommended method is to use Google Takeout to transfer the files or to share and make a copy. Using Google Takeout creates a copy of your files in your account while keeping the originals in your school account. Sharing and making a copy involve sharing the document with your account and then making a copy in that account.

Using Google Takeout:

  • Sign in: Access takeout.google.com/transfer using your school account.
  • Enter personal email: Input the email address of the personal Google account where you want the files transferred.
  • Verify: Follow the instructions to verify your account.
  • Select content: Choose the content you want to transfer (e.g., Drive).
  • Start Transfer: Initiate the transfer process.

Confirmation: You will receive an email in your account when the transfer is complete.
