We are excited to announce that the U.S. Department of Education has recognized St. Henry District High School as a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School. The National Blue Ribbon School award recognizes our students, families, faculty, staff, and community in creating a safe and welcoming school environment where all students are guided to academic excellence. SHDHS was the only high school in the state of Kentucky to receive this prestigous designation in 2021. SHDHS is now a two-time award winner, having also received this honor in 2012.
We would like to personally thank our parents for the sacrifices they make in order for their children to attend SHDHS. Their efforts provide the foundation for which the faculty, staff, and administration can provide the building blocks of our five pillars of success: faith, scholarship, arts, athletics, and leadership.
Our teachers deserve a special thank you from all of us. How they conducted their classrooms and programs while dealing with COVID restrictions played a significant role in many of the required narratives within the National Blue Ribbon application. I am fortunate to have this faculty and staff to work with each day, providing our students with the necessary guidance for success.
We want to thank our students, both past and present, for challenging themselves each day. Their successes and failures build the pathway to not only their future, but to the future of every Crusader who will follow in their footsteps.
This recognition is especially meaningful as the qualifying academic data necessary to apply came from the 2020 graduating class. This class left school on Friday, March 13, 2020, never returning to campus to complete their senior year. Although their year did not end with the usual memories, including a prom and graduation, their willingness to engage in virtual learning provided the foundation for learning at St. Henry in 2021. I want to personally thank the 2020 class for their academic prowess in getting us over the first hurdle in receiving this award.
The 2021 National Blue Ribbon award belongs to the entire St. Henry District High School community and serves as a shining example of how, working together, Crusaders can do amazing things.
