Salute! An alum has combined her knowledge of wine with her love of tourism and started a tour company in wine country.
Kristina Horton ‘02 and her husband started Toast Tours in Paso Robles, California last year. She says it’s been a crazy process to get to this point, but they have had a lot of fun along the way and the tours are off to a great start.
Kristina and her husband moved to California in 2013 from Barcelona, Spain where she fell in love with workinging in tourism. She started working in Napa and Sonoma as a guide and became more interested in wine, so she decided to complete Sommelier certification, as well as additional wine education courses.
Kristina says on Toast Tours they give customers a more in-depth wine tasting experience. Instead of trying to fit in as many wineries as possible in a tour, they focus on more quality stops where they teach customers about farming, wine production, life of the vine, and influence of the barrel and aging, all while having fun, tasting exceptional wines, and enjoying the scenery.
Horton says they also work closely with their guests to build their ideal tour which can be just wineries or also include beer, spirits, olive oil, honey, or other experiences.
If you have any plans to head out to wine country, or are looking for a reason to do so, Kristina has created a special promo code for anyone affiliated with SHDHS! Toast2SHDHS will get you a 10% discount on all tours.
You can learn more about Toast Tours by going to their website: www.toasttours.com.
Congratulations, Kristina, and best of luck on your new endeavour.
