This week’s winners are:
Ohio team of the week: Indian Hill girls track – The Braves took a team championship at the Division II meet in Piqua with four regional event championships. The team of Meghan O’Brien, Claudia Hollander, Amy Prugh and Elizabeth Whaley won the 4×800 relay regional championship at the Division II meet in a time of 9:34.66. The team of Meghan O’Brien, Ellie Podojil, Elizabeth Whaley and Anna Podojil won the 4×400 relay regional championship in a time of 3:56.81. Anna won two more regional championships in the 400 and 200 dashes.
Northern Kentucky team of the week: Beechwood baseball – Beechwood scored 20 combined runs in a pair of victories against Newport Central Catholic last Saturday and Ryle on Monday without ceding a run in either of those games.
Ohio baseball: Jake Edwards, Middletown Madison – He helped lead Madison to a 4-2 win over Madeira in the DIII district championship over Madeira May 22. He currently leads the Mohawks in at-bats (101), runs scored (37), hits (40) and stolen bases (26).
Ohio softball: Ali Weekley, Mason – The senior and four-year varsity starter Ali Weekly was 2-for-3, with a double and two RBI, one run scored. Has been a leader on this Comet team for the past 4 years as a starter and will continue her athletic career for UD Flyers. The sure-handed shortstop had over a .400 batting average for the season and 26 RBI.
Boys lacrosse: Noah Reidy, St. Xavier – He scored three goals in the second half of the game with GCL-South rival Moeller, an 11-10 win, in the regional final game to advance the Bombers to the Division I final four.
Girls lacrosse: Sydni Black, Summit Country Day – She was recently named Miami Valley Conference player of the year and helped lead SCD to an 18-12 win over Indian Hill May 21 for a regional title.
Boys track: St. Xavier 4×800 team – The team, comprised of Nate Mountain, Tommy Walters, Nick Mills, Michael Srinivasan, won the 3,200 relay for a Division I regional championship.
Girls track: Rachel Jeffries, McNicholas – The junior won the Division II regional championship in the high jump May 25 with a jump of 5-feet-5.
Boys singles tennis: Ronit Hiryur, St. Xavier – He was the Division I state singles runner-up after bowing to his Mason opponent in the final May 25.
Boys doubles tennis duo: Tejas Pisati and Mack Ellis, Indian Hill – The freshman and senior duo reached the Division II state tennis semifinals.
Girls tennis: Natalie Smith, Campbell County – She won the 10th Region girls singles tennis championship, advancing to state.
Boys volleyball: Mav Owens, Moeller – The senior outside hitter has helped the Crusaders reach the Division I state quarterfinals after they beat Elder 3-1 in the regional finals May 25.
