A Crusader continues to shine on the local stage.
Liam Sweeney, Class of 2019, is currently in his third professional production with Cincinnati Landmark Productions (CLP). The show is Almost Heaven: Songs of John Denver.
In one review written about Almost Heaven the critic had this to say about Liam’s performance: “One “company” character (Liam Sweeney) does represent Denver and tells most of his story. Sweeney “portrays” Denver as a personable, enthusiastic character, has a good singing voice and sports a pseudo-Denver haircut to boot.”
The critic also said Liam’s performance of “Thank God, I’m a Country Boy” was one of the musical highlights of the show.
Liam’s other shows with CLP were Oklahoma and Wizard of Oz.
After he wraps his performances of Almost Heaven, Liam will perform in the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Mama Mia, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Being cast in these roles at 16 and 17 years old (he just turned 17 in September) is huge. All roles are paid roles and the experience and opportunities that have been provided to him in the theatre community are essential for someone who will major in musical theatre in college. Based on his participation in the Governor’s School for the Arts his sophomore year, his ACT, his auditions, and his academic record, Liam has received several scholarship offers, and has accepted a full scholarship to NKU beginning this fall where he will major in musical theatre.
Keep up the great work, Liam!
